Vertical Farming Makes the TIME 50 Best Inventions List


Valcent Technology's VertiCrop System, which I wrote about here, was just announced as one of TIME's 50 Best Inventions of 2009. It is number 16.

Congratulations to Valcent for this recognition for its work in sustainable agriculture!

But is this really a Vertical Farm? TIME thinks yes, but I think no. An article from Food, Nutrition, and Science thinks:
VertiCrop differs from Despommier’s multi-story vision in that it is a single story structure with food growing on vertical planes.
So, does this count as Vertical Farming? What do you think?
